Law of Access to Public Information

The Intellectual Property Registry of Guatemala (RPI) is governed by the principles of transparency, maximum publicity and access to public information established in the Political Constitution of the Republic of Guatemala and in the Law on Access to Public Information — Decree 57-2008 of the Congress of the Republic. In compliance with these provisions, institutional, regulatory and procedural information relating to the RPI is made available to the public through this website, in order to guarantee the exercise of the right to access information, promote accountability and facilitate knowledge of the processes and rules applicable to intellectual property, in accordance with the current legal framework.

Limits of the right of access to information.

 

Access to public information will be limited in accordance with the provisions of the Political Constitution of the Republic of Guatemala, information that is considered confidential by express provision of a law, information classified as reserved in accordance with this law and information that, according to international treaties or agreements ratified by the State of Guatemala, has a reservation clause.

The obligated entities must keep updated and available at all times, in accordance with their functions and at the disposal of any interested party, at least the following information, which may be consulted directly or through the electronic portals of each obligated entity.
